Isolation, support, and rationalization are all forms of resistance. Some never accomplish what they set out to do as they do not want to be alone. The hours fly by on the wings of resistance. Going in search of some relief of the guilt of never achieving their goals, they seek support from friends, therapists or ministers. Healing might be what one is searching for in their personal life, but a personal life has nothing to do with one’s work, as “the part of us that we imagine needs healing is not the part we create from.” Pressfield suggests that one’s muse is always with them, they are never alone. To seek support from others becomes a form of resistance to the work they might be avoiding. A person begins to rationalize the why’s they are not doing their work, and often some of these are true.
